Inspiration for growthThis book is a great starting point for those who seek to grow personally and professionally。 Each chapter covers one "law" and there are action points at the end of every chapter。 This book has inspired me to be intentional about character growth, goal setting and being a lifelong learner。 Inspiration for growthThis book is a great starting point for those who seek to grow personally and professionally。 Each chapter covers one "law" and there are action points at the end of every chapter。 This book has inspired me to be intentional about character growth, goal setting and being a lifelong learner。 。。。more

A great introduction to self development but not life changing

Such a fantastic resource! I read this in conjunction with an online course Maxwell offered, and found the pairing to really take my growth to the next level--above and beyond what "just" reading the book would do (which is still super beneficial!)。 Engaging, practical, and applicable。 Such a fantastic resource! Quyển sách tuy vẫn có 1 số phần chưa cụ thể và không thực tế nhưng nhìn chung vẫn rất hữu ích。

This book was such a good reminder that in order to grow you must be intentional to improve, be aware of your growth, reflect on your life, the consistency we need to grow, and so much more。 I had the pleasure in buddy reading with my childhood friends and discussing how this book can apply in our lives in similar/different aspects。 Did most of the book had said were mind-blowing? Not really。 Was it a slap in the face? The author, John Maxwell, seems like a wonderful person and someone I would certainly view as a mentor and a person to emulate。 While there was a lot of valuable, inspiring, and encouraging information in this book that I have noted and will certainly refer back to, there was something that kept the book from really sinking in。 I'm not sure if it's the formatting, or what specifically。 I will go back to review some points in the future, but I wish I felt more able to retain and connect with some The author, John Maxwell, seems like a wonderful person and someone I would certainly view as a mentor and a person to emulate。 While there was a lot of valuable, inspiring, and encouraging information in this book that I have noted and will certainly refer back to, there was something that kept the book from really sinking in。 I'm not sure if it's the formatting, or what specifically。 I will go back to review some points in the future, but I wish I felt more able to retain and connect with some of this info in my head for the long term。 I will definitely try more of his books in the future。 。。。more

I really loved the book ,and the authorYou feel from his writings that he really want to help youAnd he focus on self involvement, and helping the others But,on the other side the book is full with fillers, lots of quotes, and more of writing pages about other books

Read this book as part of a book club with professional ladies and we were all disappointed in the read。 Although there was a lot of grandfathered wisdom passed on a lot that I have happily taken from the book and applied there is also dangerous quotes and claims on hardship /coming from nothing when it’s not quite the case。‘I won’t be alone with woman unless it’s family’。 How cringe-worthy is this? and why are we supporting such ideologies?!

Cory Wallace

This was an excellent read that provided most insight I can apply to improve my skills as a leader while helping others。

Maxz

This book was really good because John gives his different points and the concisely brakes them up into pieces and at the end gives action items to use his principles。 What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

Teresa

‘I won’t be alone with woman unless it’s family’。 Where do I even begin with how cringe-worthy this is。 My professional female friends and I selected this book for our Dec book club。 We couldn’t relate or connect to him as an author as well as the content。 Disappointing。

Arturo Macias

I enjoy all of John Maxwell's books。 The concepts aren't new to me but I like to be reminded of them in the mornings before I start my day。 I enjoy all of John Maxwell's books。 The concepts aren't new to me but I like to be reminded of them in the mornings before I start my day。 。。。more

"Potential is one of the most wonderful words in any language。 It looks forward with optimism。 It is filled with hope。 It promises success。 It implies fulfilment。 Potential is a word based on possibilities。" - John MaxwellMy friend & career coach Emma recommended this book to me at the end of 2020。 The Writer John Maxwell, needless to say, he is a very famous coach and speaker on leadership。 No。1 New York bestselling author who has sold more than 24 million books! This book is one of his masters "Potential is one of the most wonderful words in any language。 It looks forward with optimism。 It is filled with hope。 It promises success。 It implies fulfilment。 Potential is a word based on possibilities。" - John MaxwellMy friend & career coach Emma recommended this book to me at the end of 2020。 The Writer John Maxwell, needless to say, he is a very famous coach and speaker on leadership。 No。1 New York bestselling author who has sold more than 24 million books! This book is one of his masters works in personal growth and personal development。 I highly recommend anyone who desires to reach your potential to read。 This book will go to give you the best tips John Maxwell has in order to help you achieve that。First of all, reaching your potential means growth! It means two things: First you must be intentional about it。。。 What do you want? Second, you must change something you do every day。 Habit change! Here are my highlights, but I haven't included 15 laws all here。 If you would like to learn all the laws I recommend you pick the book!Direction Not Distance - The Journey of a Lifetime"Where do you want to go in life?" "What direction do you want to go?" "How long will this take?" "How far can I go?" "What's the furthest you can imagine going?" These questions you should be asking yourself right now - not that you will be able to answer。 I started this growth journey when I was a kid, and I still haven't answered。 But it will help you set the direction, if not the distance。 Answering those questions will get you started on the personal growth journey。 The best you can hope to do in life is to make the most out of whatever you've been given。 You can do that by investing in yourself, making yourself the best you can be。 The more you've got to work with, the greater your potential - and the farther you should try to go。 As my dad used to say to me repeatedly when I was a kid。 "To whomever, much is given - much shall be required。" Give growing your best you can become the best。The Bridge - the Law of Consistently“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily。 ” That means developing great habits。 Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed everyday。 Over time that daily crossing becomes a habit。 And Utilimately, people do not decide their future; they decide their habits and their habits decide their future。What are you doing daily that needs to change? What needs doing? Maybe more importantly, what needs undoing? Advice communist Abigil Van Buren quipped。 "A bad habit never goes away by itself。 It's always an undo-it-yourself project。" What are you willing to change doing today in order to change what you will be doing tomorrow。Action Bias - Closing the Gap Between Your Potential and Where You Are NowThe most sussessful people I know have a strong action bias。 People who are successful at overcoming almost anything realize that they need to move constantly。 John said in "In 1974, I attended a seminar at the University of Dayton, where W。 Clement Stone spoke on the subject of having a sense of urgency。 Stone was a business tycoon who had made his fortune in insurance。 His session was titled 'Do it Now', and one of the things he told us was this "Before you get out of bed every morning, say 'Do it Now' fifty times。 At the end of the day before you go to sleep, the last thing you should do is say 'Do it Now' fifty times。" Give this a try! It will give you a tremendous sense of urgency。Deep Roots - the Law of Design"I'm aware that I'm an especially impatient person, but I think all people naturally design for things come to them quickly and easily, including personal growth。" If you has similiarty puzzles, John gives us such a great praable here。"The secret isn't really to want more or want it faster。 It's to put more time and attention into what you have and what you can do now。 Give there three times the effort and energy to growing yourself。 And allow yourself to grow slowly and with deep roots。 Remember that a squash vine or tomato plant grows in a matter of weeks, produces for several days or weeks, and then dies when the first frost comes。 In comparison, a tree grows slowly - over years, decades, or even centuries; it produces fruits for decades; and if healthy, it stands up to frost, storms, and drought。" Keep it in mind and ask yourself: Will what I'm doing now allow me to root deep and benefit later? Then use your action bias towards growing the roots of your tree as deep as possible。 Nothing Changes - Life is Like a Game of CheckersLife is like a game of checker。 When you're playing checkers you have to make tradeoffs! Sometimes you have to give up a piece in in order to gain two。 Other times you have to know not to take a piece or your opponent will get two。 If neither of you is willing to give even one piece you will simply stalemate。 Remember those question we asked before, "Where do you want to go in life?" "What direction do you want to go?" "What's the furthest you can imagine going?" Well, If you're going to accomplish those things there is going to be some things that you can't accomplish! Can to How - Another Self Talk HackWhen you ask yourself。 "How can I?" It give yourself a fighting chance to achieve something。 Can I? and How can I? are two different questions! The most common reason people don't overcome the odds is that they don't challenge them enough。 They don't test their limits。 They don't push their capacity。 How Can I? Assumes there is a way。 Now let's put them into action! 。。。more

Love love love。 So much information, so little book。 straight to the point, no bs。 Might want to keep a pen/highlighter handy。

It's a good book, not a mind blowing, has a lot of stories and some self stories that I guess was quite unnecessary, this broke the flow reading and turns out a little bit wordy。 At the end of each chapter he provides a serie of questions and mental exercises that leads you to good questions, its very good。 Sumarize, it's a good reading。 It's a good book, not a mind blowing, has a lot of stories and some self stories that I guess was quite unnecessary, this broke the flow reading and turns out a little bit wordy。 At the end of each chapter he provides a serie of questions and mental exercises that leads you to good questions, its very good。 Sumarize, it's a good reading。 。。。more

I read 5 of the laws of growth and I couldn't handle anymore more。 I don't know if I'm turned off because I already have this base from years of pursuing personally growth or from the incessant name dropping and quoting。 I found the chapters to be very choppy。 However, throw the main points into an ebook it email series and it'd be fantastic。 Two stars for the core message。 I read 5 of the laws of growth and I couldn't handle anymore more。 I don't know if I'm turned off because I already have this base from years of pursuing personally growth or from the incessant name dropping and quoting。 I found the chapters to be very choppy。 However, throw the main points into an ebook it email series and it'd be fantastic。 Two stars for the core message。 。。。more

A no nonsense list and examples to follow for anyone that works with people or is in a leadership position。 If more people embodied these principles the world would be a happier, more understanding place。 Stay curious always!

A classic personal development book。 Some of the laws include Awareness - know yourself to grow yourself。 Mirror - you must see value in yourself to add value to yourself。 Consistency - motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing。 Environment - Growth thrives in good surroundings。 Design - to maximize growth, develop strategies。 Pain - good management of bad experiences leads to great growth。 Ladder - character growth determines the height of your personal growth。

Merak Rodriguez

Great book to teach you about leadership and character development。
